Inwood is a hamlet that is in the Five Towns which is a grouping of hamlets and villages in Nassau County in Hempstead. In 1817, Inwood was setting and originally known as North West Point due to its position to Far Rockaway. After the Civil War, the entire area became known as Westville. In 1889, at the establishment of the post office, the village name was changed to Inwood as there was a post office in the state with the name of Westville. Inwood is served by the Lawrence Public Schools with students from other nearby areas also attending which include Woodmere, North Woodmere, Cedarhurst, and Atlantic Beach. The community is pretty secluded on the very tip of the island with beautiful hills and countryside all around. There is a wide array of shopping experiences from cigar stores to floral shops to pastries as well as a variety of exquisite restaurants in Inwood, NY.

The most popular attractions in Inwood include Inwood Hill Park with 160 acres that stretch along the Hudson to the northern tip of Manhattan. Another famous attraction is the Dyckman Farmhouse Museum.
